Clean Up Those Dirty Letters

Scenario: Last week you worked through lunch, wolfing down an extra-large slice of meat-lover’s pizza while madly plunking away at your keyboard.

Problem: A rich layer of reddish-orange grease now covers the keys, and you’ve just spotted a parade of ants emerging from their depths, dinner in hand.

How to get rid of all that grossness? Standard keyboard cleaners pollute the air with toxins that are lethal if inhaled in large quantities. These earth-friendly methods will do the trick without killing any brain cells:

Solution 1: Hoover It.
Unplug your keyboard. With the brush attachment, vacuum off any dust, paying particular attention to the back of the machine, where the air vents and cords reside. Then turn your keyboard upside down and give it a good shake. Use a split microfiber cloth (also good for cleaning house, your car, etc.) to remove bacteria, grease, and grime from the keys. To remove keys, first make a diagram of their placement, then pry off one key using a flat screwdriver. You should be able to pull off the remaining keys with your fingers.

Solution 2: Blast It.
Use this chemical-free Refillable Duster by Re-Air to blow out dust and crumbs. Save money by using a bike pump to refill it.
